Hit and Run Driver Strikes Family in South Pasadena

A hit and run driver struck a family in South Pasadena on Sunday. The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Orange Grove Ave. and Columbia St.

Bryan Hollon, age 40, his wife Alexandra, age 30, and their four-month-old daughter were walking their Boston terrier. The San Gabriel Valley family were in a crosswalk when they were struck by a newer model, dark-colored SUV. The SUV driver stopped momentarily, then fled the scene.

The dog was killed in the accident. Alexandra Hollon suffered a broken nose and cuts and bruises. Her daughter suffered a skull fracture. Bryan Hollon suffered minor injuries, according to the South Pasadena Police Department.

Unless a hit and run driver is identified in the first two days, statistically they are unlikely to be later identified.

Pedestrians struck by hit and run drivers can make an uninsured motorist claim under their own auto insurance policy, if they have uninsured motorist coverage. Because of the frequency of hit and run accidents, we recommend that every driver carry uninsured motorist coverage of at least $100,000 per person, $300,000 per accident.
