Who Is Liable for Your Injuries and Car Damage in a Multi-Vehicle Accident?

In a multi-vehicle accident, the driver or drivers who were negligent and whose negligence caused or contributed to the accident are on the hook for your property damage and injuries. If there was a police report, you will probably have to wait until the report is ready (5 – 7 days on average, though up to three months if it is an LAPD report).

If you can't wait for the police report to come out, you should go through your own insurance company for your property damage claim, assuming you have collision coverage. If you don't have collision coverage, you have no choice but to wait for the police report.

If your injuries were serious, or it's too early to know if they're serious and whether you'll eventually have a complete recovery, it is advisable to talk to a personal injury lawyer. All personal injury attorneys offer free consultations. Even if you don't hire an attorney, it's a good idea to speak to a lawyer to make sure you don't do anything which could reduce the value of your claim.
